A gratitude walk with kids
Slow steps, open eyes, and lots of little wonders. A simple nature walk can turn an ordinary day into a meaningful family ritual.
Take a short walk before you try to make it meaningful. Around the block, a park path, or the edge of the yard is enough. The children are looking, not training for a hike.
Give each child one job: find something gold, something that moves, and something they are glad is there. Bring a pencil and a scrap of paper so the list survives the walk home.
When you get back, read the list out loud. Ask which thing they want to thank God for, and write the sentence in their words. Then read Psalm 107:1 from the World English Bible: “Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.”
If they want to sit down and color what they saw, print a page from the Thanksgiving Coloring Book with Cozy Collie. The WEB edition is modern English. The King James edition is a separate listing.
