Cozy the Brave Collie

Cozy the Brave Collie: A Rough Collie Coloring Book of Farm-Hero Stories for Kids

20 farm-hero coloring adventures with one brave rough collie — a story, a hero word to color, and a counting game on every page. Print one page free.

Cozy the Brave Collie is a storybook coloring book about one rough collie who helps everyone on her farm. It has 20 adventures — herding sheep, finding a lost lamb, warning the family about a flooded bridge — and every page has three parts: the scene to color, a one-line story, a hero word in big block letters to color (BRAVE, HELPFUL, GENTLE…), and a “Count with Cozy!” counting game at the bottom. There are no verses in this one — it's the Cozy Collie book made for every kid who just loves dogs.

Why a rough collie book?

Most collie coloring books are border collies or grown-up mandala pages. Rough collies — the fluffy, long-nosed farm collies — barely get a book of their own, and the vintage ones are collectibles, not something a child can color today. This one gives kids a rough collie who does things: she herds, she guards, she pulls, she tracks, and whenever someone on the farm needs help, Cozy comes running.

What are the 20 adventures?

Every adventure is a real little story with a happy ending, drawn at the moment help is working — nobody is ever in danger on the page. In book order:

Help at the Old Well (BRAVE) • Sheep Through the Broken Gate (HELPFUL) • The Lost Lamb (GENTLE) • Fox at the Chicken Coop (WATCHFUL) • Smoke in the Barn (LOYAL) • Lost in the Cornfield (CLEVER) • The Calf in the Muddy Creek (STRONG) • The Snow Delivery (KIND) • Help on the Mountain Trail (SWIFT) • Ducklings at the Drain (PATIENT) • The Kitten in the Hayloft (CURIOUS) • Calves by the Road (STEADY) • The Runaway Pony (CALM) • The Life Ring at the Dock (READY) • Rabbits in the Garden (CHEERFUL) • The Flooded Bridge (WISE) • Thin Ice (CAREFUL) • Escape at the County Fair (PLAYFUL) • Harvest Helper (JOYFUL) • A Hero's Welcome (LOVED) — the finale, where the whole farm gathers to thank her.

What is the “Count with Cozy!” strip?

Under every scene are four things to find and count in the picture — “How many sheep? How many sunflowers? How many chickens? How many hay bales?” — each with a big answer box made for little hands, placed right after its question. Coloring, a story, a hero word, and a first counting practice all live on the same page, which is why the book works so well for ages 4–10: younger kids count and color the word, older kids read the story and hunt every last sunflower.

How do you use it at home?

1. Read the one-line story first. It sets the scene in one breath — “Cozy guided every sheep safely through the gate!”

2. Color the scene, then the hero word. Talk about the word while you color it: when was Cozy HELPFUL today? When were you?

3. Count last. The counting strip is the game at the end — and the answers are all really in the picture.

4. Finish all 20 and the last page is a Farm Hero Certificate, signed with Cozy's paw print.

23 pages total: a full-color cover, a “Meet Cozy” welcome page, the 20 adventure pages, and a Farm Hero Certificate at the end.

Who makes Cozy the Brave Collie?

Cozy Collie is created by Brittany, a homeschool mom of three in Iowa. Cozy is her own rough collie, and you can find the shop as @cozycollieshop on Etsy, Pinterest, and Facebook.
